Fandom and Web Design

The Friday Five ~
1. What fandom do you center on most?
I can’t just choose one. I have probably about four that I mainly center on, those being Disney, Star Wars, Harry Potter & Lord of the Rings.

2. Do you contribute to it much (write fanfiction, draw fanart, participate in online communities and discussions)?
Not as much as I used to. I used to be into Harry Potter fanfiction back when I had a crush on Daniel Radcliffe and secretly hoped Rowling would read my Mary-Sues and cast me as the new character. Now, I’m just kinda waiting around until Rowling is done with book 7 to even begin writing again. I do occasionally participate in the discussion of Ron/Hermione’s ship at Ship Debate.

3. Do you think that such things are good or harmful to the fandom and why?
I think it’s totally fine. It’s an expression of the author’s imagination. But the Mary-Sues do get annoying.

4. Do you think its good or harmful for the original creator?
I really don’t think so. In fact I happen to think that Rowling has gotten several ideas from fanfiction to use in her novels.

5.) Why do you like this fandom in particular?
I guess since I started talking about Potter in the last 3 questions I might as well end with it. I like Harry Potter because it’s a fandom that is so much fun to be a fan of and I love the creativity behind it, the characters, the plot, everything. Something about the way Rowling writes draws me into the story each time and it gets to a certain point where I start to feel what Harry is feeling (like in OotP, PMS!Harry).

So last night I was up till 2am trying to get two plug-ins to work. Also got the UMHSMUSIC.org up and running and now I just have to continue customizing things. It has been a good day in the web designing world for Cena.

Today all I have going on is work from 6-10pm and after that is boyfriend time. Tomorrow he’s going rafting with his family while I get to work from 1-8pm. After work for sure we’re going to see Cars! I’m also hoping that I can go see The Devil Wears Prada w/my mom and sis.

Now I am off to shower and enjoy what time I have left of my afternoon before going to work.
