Gotta love mini-breaks!

Wow! What a crazy and fun weekend! On Saturday morning I loaded my bike into the back of my dad’s truck, stopped at Joshua’s so he could load his stuff in and after a few errands we drove straight down to visit my grandparents in Marine County for the weekend. When we got to their house we had a delicious lunch and then drove down to the nearby shopping center to park the truck and go bike riding. We rode for two hours and would have ridden more but it was actually quite hot. We took the truck over to the Corte Madera Town Center Shopping area to where we wandered around a bit. Brought Papa Murphy’s Pizza back to my grandparents house where we spent the evening eating pizza and playing dominoes.

Sunday morning we ate a healthy breakfast and then took off to browse around Corte Madera’s Village Shopping Center. I took Joshua up into the tower there where we had a lovely view of the San Rafael Bay …

We came back to my grandparents house for lunch and then we headed out to our beach. Although the weather was foggy, it was actually quite warmer than when we went the last time. I think the fog was keeping the wind back and letting the warmth from the sun creep through. We laid on the beach for an hour talking about life and how we can’t wait till a year from now when things will be so different.

We had to make one last stop at my grandparents house before officially heading home. We stopped in Vacaville to check out the Outlets and then left to get gas and have dinner in Dixon. As we were making our way home, my dad called telling me that a large fire occurring near our house had caused CHP/Caltrans to shut down highway 49 meaning I had no way of getting home! I hung out at Joshua’s house until 9pm and then Joshua & I were able to successfully get back to my house.

Next weekend, we plan on taking a tour of the Jelly Belly Factory! It’s nice that my weekends are starting to open up a bit more making room for Joshua & I to spend some quality time together while we still can. I’m still trying to mentally prepare myself for our 4 month separation. It’s gonna be tough the but it will be worth it.
