Today I learned that sadly there are some people who do not understand the concept of a library. In my history class, we took a trip to the library for an orientation on doing research for our topics and one kid asked with definite seriousness…

“Do you have to buy the books at the library?”

I felt sorry not only for him, but for my teacher as she was forced to choke down a laugh to tell him that no, you borrow books from the library. I guess it’s understandable because us college students are so overwhelmed with having to buy things like books for school that we soon forget such simple things like the library, where you can borrow books for free.
