Because my mom accidentally did the wrong film developing for my disposable camera, my pictures of Jack Sparrow walking around Disneyland and other pics will not be available until Tuesday. I bought a disposable camera thinking I would take so many pictures that my digital camera wouldn’t be able to hold them all. But lesson learned is digital camera is always the way to go.
Over the Labor Day weekend spent at Disneyland I learned that I hate strollers. I can’t even begin to fathom how many strollers nearly ran me over during the day and a half I spent at Disneyland. In fact when one actually did run over my foot and ripped part of my flip-flop, I yelled out, “DAMNIT I HATE STROLLERS!” and this one lady nearby turned around telling me she couldn’t agree with me more. Then as we were walking we both conversed how people should only bring their kids if their kids can actually walk/stand. It was great.
Other than the strollers, words cannot describe how wonderful my vacation was. This was my first vacation not only with Joshua, but my first vacation by myself with only me (no other adults of higher power) to plan my own itinerary. On Saturday morning I was up at 4am sharp and began packing all my last minute items. Eventually Joshua woke up and so did my dad so he could make breakfast for us. We ended up leaving the house around 5:30am or so making one stop in Folsom for fuel and a few bathroom breaks along the way as well. Our last stop was at the base of the grapevine to fill up for fuel and from there we didn’t stop until we got to our hotel. We hit traffic just as we came out of the LA Basin and we were stuck in it all the way to our hotel.
We checked into the Hilton Anaheim around 2pm and once we were settled we headed straight to the hot tub for some relaxation. Because it was already 100 degrees outside we didn’t stay in the hot tub for very long so we got ready and headed on over to Disneyland Resort! Because we had two day park hopper passes, we went into Disney’s California Adventure first where I had Joshua go on the “Soarin’ Over California” hang-gliding ride with me. We bopped around a few gift shops, got our free pin lanyards that came with our travel package and then hopped over to Disneyland.
Joshua has been doing very well financially lately so he was able to splurge on me by getting me my ultimate Disney souvenir: the limited edition box set of “A Musical History of Disneyland” featuring six discs of remastered music from the park, “The Sounds of Disneyland” book, and the record of “Walt Disney Takes You To Disneyland: A Musical Tour of The Magic Kingdom.” At around $100 for the entire set, it was a pretty damn good price considering everything I got with it and the fact we got it at Disneyland. This is probably the best gift next to my promise ring that he has ever given me. I love him so much.
We had a quick dinner at Redd Rockett’s Pizza Port in Tomorrowland and then made our way over to Adventureland/New Orleans Square. We took advantage of the short lines and went into “Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room“, my favorite attraction in all of Disneyland. This was Joshua’s first time going into the Tiki Room so it was great being able to share my favorite attraction with him. We were still doing excellent on time (we were hanging out until “Fantasmic!” would start at 9pm) so we took a ride on the “Jungle Cruise” as well, another attraction Joshua hadn’t been on. I tell you, all the hot boys were working that ride because they helped me both in and out of the boats by taking my arm/hand, tee hee. Time was still on our side so our last attraction before Fantasmic! was the “Haunted Mansion“. Joshua had been on this before but only during the holiday season where it was “A Haunted Mansion Holiday” with it being “The Nightmare Before Christmas” theme; therefore Joshua got to see this ride in it’s original entirety. When we got out of the mansion, we finally decided to attempt finding a seat for the Fantasmic! show. Aside from the annoyingly tall dude in front of me, Joshua & I enjoyed the show. We took the train to Main Street USA and headed back to our hotel for the night.
Sunday Joshua & I had a very filling breakfast at a nearby IHOP and began our full day at Disneyland. I misjudged the weather in LA thinking it was going to be the low 80s. Instead it was exactly 100 degrees and I was walking around in my dark jeans & black Disney Princess shirt. Because I am easily prone to heat exhaustion, the heat was really getting to me. We grabbed our Fast Pass ticket for “Indiana Jones & the Temple of the Forbidden Eye”, went on “It’s A Small World” (only because it was the ride that had the BEST air conditioner), and spent a bit of time going to all the clothing stores just so I could buy a pair of shorts. I had no luck in the park itself so my last hope was Downtown Disney. Not only did I find my 50th Anniversary Souvenir Shirt that I had been searching for but there was a Quicksilver store as well which meant SHORTS! Although I did have a bit of a heartburn spending $46 on the only pair of shorts that fit me, they were a million times better than my pants! Plus they are comfy as hell and are now my favorite item of clothing.
Anyways, once we did Indiana Jones, I was still feeling worn down from the heat so we went back to the hotel where I took a quick 15 minute nap. Meanwhile Joshua went down to the Starbucks in our hotel and brought me back a Java Chip Frappucino with a shot of peppermint. After a few sips of that and a change into my black spaghetti shirt accompanying my new shorts, I was ready to go back into the park enjoy the rest of the day. We shared a delicious enchilada dish at Rancho del Zocalo and then took a peek at the Disney Gallery where we saw tons of memorabilia from PotC: Dead Man’s chest, including the chair Sparrow sat in as chief of the cannibals, the Dead Man’s Chest and key, Jack’s compass, and Davey Jones’s locket. I took pictures but those are on my disposable camera.
As we were exiting the gallery and heading down the ramp to stand in line for “Pirates of the Caribbean“, whom should come waltzing about but none other than Captain Jack Sparrow himself! I took a few pictures (again disposable camera) of him before he finally walked right by me winking at me saying “Aye!” I stood frozen and then giggled as he walked away, tee hee! So probably one of the rides I was excited to go on the most, Pirates of the Caribbean proved to be just as good as before its updates! What I liked the most aside from the occasionally appearances of Jack, was that they incorporated part of the movie music into the ride score. It used to be as repetitive as “It’s a Small World”, but now it’s enjoyable. Not only that, but I LOVED the waterfall effect with Davey Jones!!
The next attraction we hit was the “Matterhorn Bobsleds” in which we spent most of our time waiting in line. We wanted to go on “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad” but for some reason it was closed for minor repairs. We wandered around gift shops, went on the Mark Twain Riverboat, and had a lovely dinner at the French Market Cafe (sourdough breadbowl w/clam chowder!). After dinner we went back over to Main Street USA to camp out on the ground until the “Remember … Dreams Come True” fireworks show started. That show was the best fireworks show I have ever seen! Nothing can compare to the special effects in that show, especially with how it ended with the Star Wars theme song!
In attempt to avoid the fireworks crowd, Joshua & I snuck into the Main Street USA Opera House where we got to see the presentation “Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years.” After that we raced back to our hotel to enjoy one more go in the hot tub and then to bed. Monday morning we checked out around 10am, got breakfast at Starbucks, and then left for our drive back home. After a few stops we arrived home around 6pm where we hung out for the rest of the evening at my house.
Needless to say I had an awesome time. Next I will hopefully be in December and then I’ll get to see the park in holiday decor! Anyhoo, more pictures are to come but as said at the beginning of the post they won’t appear until sometime next week.

Wow! Sounds like you two had an awesome time! I agree with the stroller hatred too! Especially in places like shopping malls (when thet go along reaaaalllllly slowly in front of you!), but it’d be a million times worse at somewhere like Disneyland!
*goes to look at photo gallery* :-D
I am so glad you had such a wonderful time! Sounds like you got to see a lot of cool things.
Thank you for the link. GOs to show what good friends really are when something like this can bend our wounds. I really love you for this Cena. Thanks again.

Josh and I are going to have to chat just he and I. I hope he knows we need to talk. I do look at Josh as a friend also.
I didn’t read all of this, because it’s way long :P But I see that you went to DL and hate strollers. When I went my 8th grade year with my family, it was the most busiest days ever… so much so, that they closed the gates to people and didn’t else anyone else in. Nothin but Asians hittin ppl with damn strollers!
Also, my friend Mai works at DL as Mulan. If you saw her… well yeah, I know Mulan…
