Over the course of the weekend I learned two essential things. One being what I took away with me from the “Before the Vows” seminar and the other from work on Sunday night. Allow me to explain.
Friday evening and all day Saturday, Joshua & I participated in a church seminar called “Before the Vows” which is a seminar designed for engaged and newlywed couples. I must admit it was awkward being the only couple there that wasn’t engaged/newlywed but we still got a lot out of it. To put it bluntly it was a form of couples therapy and everything we did was based around the “Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts” book and workbooks. The activities we did in this seminar were pretty cool and allowed the couples to spend a lot of alone time with each other working on various activities in the workbooks. At one point, all the women broke off into one group and the men in the other and we sat around talking about the things we want from the opposite sex. It was so funny! It was like “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus” gone Christian.
I learned a lot about myself and the role I play in my relationship; it was also nice being able to relate to other women there, even if they were slightly older than me. I think the big thing I realized was that a person’s parents really affect their whole idea of marriage, and it makes me feel a lot better that I’m starting to care now at this age. Sure it may be a few years before Joshua & I get married, but by doing this together we’ve already begun to set a great example for out future kids. To me, that’s pretty cool. We’ve already decided that if time allows us, we’re going to take another seminar which is called “The Five Love Languages” and is also based around the book.
At work on Sunday I learned there are certain people I can’t trust. I figured I could trust them, but I can’t, especially since things I say are being exaggerated or taken in the wrong way. Out of the five managers/supervisors at work, I know I am liked by three, one is iffy, and one I am pretty sure thinks I am a nuisance. The latter snapped at me at work a few weeks ago in which it was quite obvious by other coworkers I was upset. I confided in two of them voicing that I’m pretty sure said manager doesn’t like me. Well Sunday evening that manager and the two coworkers I confided in were up front and we were talking about how there’s a new person that a few people don’t like. Manager says in a sarcastic almost jokingly type tone, “So Cristina do you still think I’m an asshole?” and I’m like, “WHAT?! I never said that!” and he says, “That’s not what I heard…” That was the end of it but I just thought WOW! So yeah, can’t trust people. In fact, there is really only one person I can trust at work and I think I am going to leave it at that.
Other than that, I had a pretty good weekend. Today I swear was National Jump In Front Of Cristina Day. Like everyone was jumping out in front of me. All the way to school, cars pulled in front of me in which I got into almost 3 accidents within 15 minutes because people were like, “Woo jump in front of Cena!” Even people in the parking lot jumped in front of me, like jumping in front of cars was the new cool thing to do. I don’t get it. And then to top it off, this dude who always comes into class late decided to show up on time and TAKE MY DAMN SEAT. In college classes, there’s like an unspoken rule that after a few class sessions and people mark their territory, you don’t change your mind and take someone’s seat. There’s this girl I’ve made friends with and we’ve been sitting next to each other for the past month and we have a great bond. Like, we share teddy grahams with each other. But I got no teddy grahams today because the DUDE TOOK MY SEAT. Made me mad. So I learned today that from now on I set my stuff down at my seat to mark my territory first and THEN I go to the bathroom. I can’t trust anyone.
Welp, now I must leave for my weekly dose of Film History. Hope y’all had good weekends. Will do more catching up later on.

Everytime I come to your page, I want to go to Disneyland.
I think that’s a great idea for all couples. I wonder if they have them for alternate lifestyle couples (LGBT).
I’m glad the seminar went well, it does sound like a pretty cool idea. I agree that is a good example for future children :D
Heh, National Jump in Front of Cristina Day, 3 almost-acccidents in 15 minutes is pretty scary though, eek!
Argh! Teddy grahams! I don’t think you can buy them in NZ, but there’s this American guy in my English tutorial and I swear, he munches his way through a box of the things nearly every day! It’s crazy, hahah.
[...] rant of the day did not involve old people, but rather college students. This is a continuation of this rant but only involving a different guy. There’s this really annoying short Asian kid who is [...]
