Two Weeks Till Christmas
Written on Monday, December 11th, 2006 @ 10:53am

I’ve just realized … you know it’s Christmas time when you hear the advertisements for the Chia Pets. Heard it for the first time today. 14 days until Christmas!

Friday night I went down to work to decorate for AM’s going away party. After decorating, I was assigned to go to the Galleria Mall to get a $200 gift certificate to Coach for AM as well. Carol & I were going around the store to all of our coworkers trying to get them to pitch in some money for the gift certificate since our GM (General Manager) said he’d match what we collected. Since there was roughly 5 people that donated (each donated $10-$20) that’s why we settled on $200. 90% of the people asked all had the same response: “I’m broke” which is kind of disappointing because there were some people who pitched in as little as $3. This really brought out the true colors in some people, especially those who didn’t donate and brought nothing to the potluck. But oh well, at least AM knows who really cares. She was very happy when she saw everything we did for her. Even one of my friends made a homemade cake which had the Old Navy logo on it. We rawked.

I did get to meet the lady that will be taking her place, or at least be in charge of making our schedules. She’s so sweet and I actually feel kind of sorry for her because being in charge of schedules is such a pain in the ass. I’ll never forget how every single person freaked out when they got their schedule for the week of Thanksgiving, so it wouldn’t surprise me if that chaos is going to occur in the next week or so. Welp, just as long as I get my week after Christmas off, I will be very happy.

When I was at the mall on Friday, I decided to do a wee bit of shopping after I got the gift certificate. I nearly piddled my pants with joy when I found they had a Bare Escentuals boutique, so of course I just had to pop in! I was so excited because up until then, I thought the nearest boutique was in San Francisco. After that I went over to Gap and finally bought a (PRODUCT) RED™ shirt, which is part of the Product Red Campaign. Also went to Victoria’s Secrets where I got a pair of PJ pants and a huge tote, however I ended up returning the PJ pants because they had some lining on the inside that irritated the heck out of my legs.

My grandparents are going to give the lady her two months notice on January 1st to move out of the duplex. Assuming she’ll use the entire two months to move out, Joshua & I (well mainly Joshua) will be living at my grandparents house until we can move in. I’m taking the semester off so I’ll be starting school at College of Marin in Fall of 2007. I’m also going to try transferring to the Gap or Banana Republic that’s in the shopping center 5 minutes away from where I’ll be living. I can’t believe this is actually going to happen. I have been living in Placerville since day 1 of my birth and for the first time I will be moving away. This is going to start a new chapter in my life, one which I can’t wait to start.

Today starts the LAST week of full classes. Next week is just finals. I am so so excited for this semester to be done with. And now I must go put my face on.

Wow this was in impressively long blog! I think I need to go and write something myself now…and I’ll actually go and DO IT this time!
I know what you mean about it being really hard to get people to put in money for stuff like that. the same happens for cast presents to directors etc. Everyone has ideas, but nobody wants to contribute, even just a small amount. It sucks, lol.
I’ve lived in the same town all my life too, good old Christchurch. Lots of my friends left when they started uni, but I decided to stay here, since it’s cheaper, and Canterbury offers the courses I want to take anyway, so why make life more difficult, lol!
Good luck for your finals, and have fun “putting your face on”…my mum uses that expression, it’s funny!
