Unecessary Stress.

This morning has not gone off to a good start. I woke up around 9am to hear really loud banging around my house and my first thought was, “Oh my God is someone breaking in? Did Josh forget to lock the doors this morning?” I jump out of bed to look out my window and see a huge white van with painting supplies parked outside. My grandparents pulled up right behind them.

Last week my grandpa had several paint bidders come out to look at the house to give him an estimate on painting the whole duplex. Up until this morning had NO idea that they picked someone nor did I know when they would be starting on it. No one called me or anything. Just HI HELLO WE’RE PAINTING KTHXBYE.

I was extremely pissed because not only did they show up unexpected but my grandma was being ridiculous as far as choosing a paint color. My grandpa had come over the other day with a nice color and when I told him I wanted that he completely went against it. Mormor wanted some light yellow mustard color, but luckily me, my grandpa, and the painter all agreed on a nice light peach yellow color.

I was still frustrated so I blew off some steam by doing laundry and making coffee. Mormor followed me all over the house telling me to calm down. Anyone knows that the last thing anyone wants to hear when they’re upset is being told to calm down, especially if it’s by the person who made you upset in the first place. Then she proceeded to get on my case ONCE AGAIN about them spending money on this place and me making things up that need to be done. I asked her if she just wanted us to move out since apparently us fixing this place up is such a hassle. She flew off the handle telling me if I didn’t apologize she would never speak to me again.

It was a crazy morning and while they left on a good note I know that Mormor is over-analyzing everything that was said and who knows what will happen. Thank God I am going out of town for the weekend tomorrow.

Oh dear, that doesn’t sound like a good start at all! I’d be pissed off too, especially if I got surprised by people showing up to paint when I wasn’t expecting it! (I think your icon on LJ says it all, heheh)
I hope you and your grandparents sort stuff out!

That must’ve been really annoying, especially since you didn’t expect it at all. Very understandable. I hope you guys will sort it out :)
