Celebrating the 7th Book

The midnight party has come and gone and it was a lot of fun. There’s a small part of me that feels a little regret like I wish I could have done more. I wish I could have dressed up more or had a pre-party or something. But still the way things turned out was not too bad.

I started my day out by taking my sis to Wal-mart so we could buy a few last minute items for celebrating. I had to buy a white button up shirt as well as stockings, a tie for Becca, etc. Wal-Mart had an awesome collection of sweats in the Gryffindor colors so Smelly got a striped red/gold shirt along with red sweat pants and was a Gryffindor Quidditch fan. Smelly had a drama lesson in the middle of the afternoon so I spent the time she was gone making cupcakes. I had Harry Potter cupcake holders along with candy decorations so I made a dozen to bring to the book party and the rest for my family.

At 5pm Smelly and I went over to Becca’s house to get ready for the party. In a rush I forgot a few things for Becca’s costume so I ended taking her to Wal-Mart where she got the matching sweats to be a Ravenclaw Quidditch fan. We headed on down the hill to the Folsom Borders so I could check in for my book.

I was very pleased with how they organized it this year. They had us check in with ID and then gave us a colored bracelet with a number. I was #201 in the silver group, which happened to be the 2nd group. The first group was orange and it consisted of 300 people. So I had 400 people ahead of my before I would get my book. Apparently the first person in the orange group got there at 1pm on Thursday and spent the night so it doesn’t surprise me that I got the place I did.

After I checked in (ran into my buddies Brandi and Christina), Becca, Smelly and I had a lovely dinner at Mimi’s Cafe. We wandered around the parking lot for awhile afterwards and ended up hanging out around the Borders area. We looked at books inside and eventually went to sit out with the rest of my friends who camped out in front of my old store (Old Navy). Twice we had people come by telling us to go to a certain spot so we could be on TV. I was on Channel 10 News (view the video in Internet Explorer and I’m the one in the glasses holding the snitch) and CBS 13 but I couldn’t find the video we were on; I did find a picture of me and my friends though.

We counted down to midnight and cheered as someone came outside holding the book out in the air. Then for the next hour and 45 minutes I waited before finally getting my book. Louie and I took credit in helping get the line organized so people could get their books faster. We had a lot of crazy people there, ones who were holding signs that said things like, “Voldemort kills himself, LOLZ! Dobby Dies! Hedwig dies!” It was a lot of fun though. When I finally got my book I took Becca home and then Smelly and watched ourselves on TV. I went to bed at 4am after reading the first chapter. I’m not going to cram and am going to enjoy this book as much as I can.

You can view my pictures I took from the party here.

Today Elphie decided she didn’t want to turn on so I’ll be having to send her in to get repaired next week. In the meantime, I’ll be mooching off of Joshua’s PC until Elphie is fixed so don’t be surprised if you don’t hear from me. Besides, I have a new book holding my attention as well!

Ah, my gosh, you look so awesome! I love the glasses with the tape the best LOL. I wish I could have gone to a party, but I had to be up really really early and so I couldn’t :( But I am totally looking forward to reading the book. I was at Wal-Mart today but they didn’t have those awesome clothes that you got…darn it. I wish all the wal-marts were the same. Oh well. Anyway, I haven’t started the book yet, but I hope you enjoy it!!

That was a pretty fun night! I’m so glad that we got all the free things that were handed out: glow stick, posters, HP5 movie posters… BTW, if you were #201, then you had 500 ppl in front of you, not 400. I’m half way through the book. Unfortunately, there is some truth to what those wierd-mullet-loser guys were saying Friday night. Not that it matters, for while reading, I forget everything other than what’s right in front of my face.

Anyways, I would have thought that Laura would be done with most of the book by now! She’s behind ME! I take pride in that… and also in our line-organizing-leadership. High Five…

Oi, though you got it before I did, I finally got my Official Release…
