A few thoughts.

I don’t know what it is about the Safeway by my house, but the staff there is just so uptight. Yesterday when I went grocery shopping, I got a lesson in being the ideal Safeway shopper. Apparently I put my stuff up on the conveyor belt wrong (I honestly don’t know how you can do that but I did!) and then I did a no-no by putting the 24-pack of waterbottles up there as well. The checker was so busy explaining my errors to me that when I asked him for paper instead of plastic in a way that said, “Please don’t shoot me for asking!” he then proceeded to tell me that company policy is you have to ask for paper, they won’t ask you what you want, and they’ll automatically start putting things in plastic bag. YEESH!

Sometimes I think my uptight customer service karma gets thrown back at me via the Safeway staff. But then I look at it as I don’t tell my customers how to shop. I pretty much just hint to them they need to learn to READ ENGLISH if they are going to try challenging prices and just flat out pay attention. I don’t stand there giving them a lecture while I ring them up. Nor do I complain about another associates lack of understanding due to their ethnicity in front of another customer. It’s just very unprofessional.

Am I the only one that gets annoyed when someone takes their seat in class? I dunno, maybe it’s just me, but I feel like that during the first few weeks of school you kinda establish your general sitting area and that it’s not polite to suddenly decide to take someone’s seat. I assumed it was like some unspoken rule of college manners or something. Sure I know there is no assigned seating, but I just don’t think it’s cool if someone has been sitting in the same spot for the past few weeks and then BOOM you decide that their seat is a fantastic change. To me, I think it’s just rude. Am I the only one that feels this way?

It’s the beginning of a long day ahead for me, and I’m running on very little sleep so I shall bid you all adieu for now.

That guy sounds so rude! :( I would have really thought about complaining and I’m not really a high-maintainence shopper…because seriously, that’s rude, grrr….he might have been new or something.

Ooh and I’m like that about seats too! XD Hehe! It definitely does seem like an “unspoken rule” after the first week.

I hope your day gets better!

I hate it when people take my seat! Then you have to take someone else’s seat, and so on and so on. But I can understand if they need to sit closer because they can’t hear/see/understand from the back. But when your seat is in the back, that’s just a little lazy and rude.

Maybe that cashier was having a bad day? Or maybe there’s something in the air at your Safeway that makes everyone grumpy. XD

Actually, when it comes to the college rule…I guess I could get where you feel that way but at the same time it’s kind of like, “We’re adults now. We can sit wherever and it won’t be treated awkwardly.” And I think it’d be different if it were the last few weeks at school and THEN someone takes your spot over and over again…but last night in my Philosophy class, I sat in this one seat and this girl walked in and LITERALLY bitched me out for sitting in HER seat that she sits in EVERY time she has that classroom (which is supposedly three times…whatever). And then said, “but I’ll LET you sit in MY seat.” I just thought it was really rude and childish of her to make such a big deal; so long as you don’t chew someone out for sitting in your seat, I think all will be well. Or hey, just get there a little earlier! LoL

No you’re not the only one.. I’ve got my own seat next to my friends in every lesson I have and when someone takes them it’s like they’ve disrupted the balance of college and I’ll be all distracted in the lesson. All because of them! =[
And what a complete and utter douche bag telling you how to put food on a conveyor belt. I didn't know there was a right way to do it, really. I try and put veg all together but apart from that, I just chuck it all on. I hope karma slaps him on the face soon for you. =]

Glad you like the Star Wars patches. =D

And I found this, it has a lot of tutorials for the Web 2.0 look: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2007/03/10/web-20-tutorials-round-up/

Oooo, I didn’t think you had Safeway in the USA. I thought it was called something like VONS…or something like that. We have safeways everywhere here in Canada. Anyway, lol, when we went to San Diego, we found a Vons and we walked in and totally thought we were in Safeway. They are obviously owned by the same company. Anyway…I seriously didn’t know that it was possible to put things on the belt wrong….that cashier is seriously too uptight. Ick.

Hey!
Thanks for the suggestion about the colours, a couple of other people have said that too, so I’ve changed some stuff. Was it the brown text you found hair to read, or the teal on the links? :)
