Send a Little Prayer for Me
Written on Monday, September 10th, 2007 @ 9:33pm

When I last saw my Nana at Mormor’s 90th birthday party, the right side of her cheek was swollen up against her nose. She didn’t know what it was but was going to get it tested assuming it was part of her sinus infection. Today I found out that it’s cancer and not only does she have it on her face but in her groin as well. My Nana has battled with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma cancer for several years having to go through chemotherapy. It completely changed her and it seems like in the last two years she finally seemed to be slightly back to normal. And now… back to the chemo. I’ve watched her slowly deteriorate over the years and now cancer is literally eating away my grandma. I don’t know how serious the cancer is, but the fact it’s back and my grandmother has to go through all this all over again is just heartbreaking.

It’s hard because my Nana was the one relative I could really talk and we’ve been slightly out of contact since I moved, mainly because she doesn’t approve of my living situation. I’m scared to lose my grandma. Not only how it will affect me but how it will affect my dad as well; he’s still choked up about his father passing away 2 weeks before I was born. If you have the time I’d appreciate a little prayer for my Nana. I plan on visiting her this week.
