Money for candy
Written on Wednesday, October 31st, 2007 @ 9:51pm

I’m sorry if this makes me sound mean, but I think it’s messed up to be asking for donations while going Trick-or-Treating. I spent money buying candy to give out, and now they want my money too? Trick-or-treating is when kids go around asking for candy, not money.

Well plans didn’t go exactly how I thought they were going to, but it was still a good Halloween. I didn’t have time to go to the store so I picked up pizza shaped like a pumpkin. My mom got to my house before I did so she was already having fun giving out candy by the time I got there. Soon Joshua came home and we just hung out watching TV, eating pizza, and giving out candy. Eventually the kids stopped coming so we’ve been hanging out watching Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.

Overall Halloween has been good, I’m just irritated with the people who had the nerve to ask for money in addition to candy. To me it’s just wrong and defeats the whole purpose of going Trick-or-Treating.

Yeah, I know what you mean about those little kids. If they were asking for just donations or just candy, then it may be more acceptable. But to ask for both is just greedy. What were the donations for? Unicef?

I like the new layout! =D

Ooh I like this layout! The girl on the left SO me right now! Although in my browser the title of this post seem to be sort of “tucked up” under the header image… o.O I must have a screwy computer *tries another browser*

Sounds like your Halloween was better than mine! We didn’t get ANY kids trick or treating, although mum did rush to the supermarket at about 6:15 just to buy sweets for them just in case some did turn up (as, according to Sod’s Law, they would have done if we’d been unprepared!). We think they get put off coming to our house since we’re on a back section up a hill and a long driveway, lol!

I can kind of see where you’re coming from about kids asking for sweets AND donations, although I don’t think they’re conciously being greedy, they probably think they’re doing a good thing and helping whichever charity they’re collecting for. I don’t think I’d really bother me much either, so long as EVERY SINGLE TRICK OR TREATER wasn’t doing it, heheh!

Right. Off to actually do some study, and to work on my post-Halloween layout!

I’ve never heard of asking for money WHILE trick-or-treating. I was baby-sitting once and was given money while trick-or-treating because I could do math problems in my head, but it was just some change.

I understand the whole asking for money thing…but is it for a good cause. Here, we have something called Unicef, and we give like a dime or two to each kid, if they have the box. But I do think it is a little too much. I mean we already buy candy for them and now they want more…it’s not cool :/ But at least you had kids…grr, I only had 2. It was quite disappointing actually :( I wish I had a pumpkin shaped pizza.
