Together For Three Years

Three years ago Joshua came over to my house meet my parents and have dinner. During dinner Joshua and my dad talked about nothing except cars, while my mom, sister, and I sat there dumbfounded as to what they were talking about. Shortly after dinner was over, Joshua and I left for my high school to see the play, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

We walked into the theatre holding hands saying hello to a few of my friends as we looked for a seat. When we sat down it was then I noticed Matt, a former crush (huge crush, I might add) who spent the first few months of our senior year purposefully parading his new girlfriend in front of me. Needless to say I was quite happy to get my little piece of revenge without even meaning to!

During intermission we walked around campus down towards the office. We just stood there holding each when out of nowhere Joshua says, “This is going to sound silly, but Cristina will you go out with me?” Me being the silly, giddy romantic that I am, I hugged him and replied, “I thought you’d never ask! Yes I will go out with you!” The time this occured was 8:52pm, and the reason I know the time is because the giant marquee clock was in our view when all this happened.

When we came back to the theatre the first person I shared the good news with was my good friend Christina. It was also then that I noticed another former crush of mine who rejected me there as well. Talk about killing two birds with one stone, bwah hah!

After the play was over we went to his car and because he has a diesel we naturally had to wait a bit for the car to warm up. I was sitting there just blabbering on about God knows what when Joshua leaned in, grabbed my face, and gave me my first real kiss. It didn’t last long because I couldn’t help but giggle, mainly since it was a wee bit awkward being my first kiss and all.

We hung out in my room for a little bit once we came home and soon after he left. When I woke up the next day, I almost couldn’t believe the previous night happened. Now, three years later we’re living together and being engaged is definitely in the future. I’m so happy to still be with him!

Aww!! That is so sweet. I love you and Josh so much and I can’t wait for him to be my official “brother-in-law.” I think people don’t give enough credit to McDonalds, I mean you did meet Josh there :)
