New Year Repairs
Written on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008 @ 12:29pm

Here’s to the first post of the New Year! I was too tired yesterday to get to the computer which is why my first 2008 post is on the 2nd. On December 31st, I pretty much spent the entire day doing laundry and backing up my hard drive in preparation for Joshua installing my new one. Joshua managed to get off work early so as soon as he did we headed on up to our hometown. Picked my mom and sis up and went to the belated Christmas party at Joshua’s parents house. We left around 9pm and after dropping my sis off at her friends house we all hung out at home until the ball dropped. I got my New Year’s Kiss and then I went to bed. I was tired!

Yesterday morning I was up at 8:30am and was out of the house by 10am in order to make it to my 12-7pm shift. Although business was slow, I still managed to have crabby customers including one lady who complained about me because she didn’t like my tone (aka being pissed because she didn’t get her way) when I told her our return policy with online returns. Not only did she complain to a cashier but she called my boss to make sure my boss would talk to me about it. My boss never talked to me about it (she thought it was laaame), and I only heard about this through the cashier the lady complained to. The thing that makes me mad is I didn’t have a tone at all! I was apologetic and understanding, but because she didn’t get her way suddenly she didn’t like my tone. Whatever! bitch plz

When I got home both my mommy and Joshua were there to greet me. I took my mom’s car down to work so I didn’t have to rush Joshua out of the house yesterday. Joshua had some time to run errands and drove my mom & sis down here. My sis is staying with my grandparents since she barely sees them while my mom stays with us just so Mormor doesn’t drive her insane due to the latest developments with my house.

Three days ago the cold water knob in my shower broke causing us to use pliers to turn the cold water on. This is not the first problem we’ve had with the shower, but rather the first one that has seriously began to complicate things. When we first moved in the shower had a few problems such as water coming out both the faucet and shower head when wanting to fill up the bathtub. The enamel in the bathtub is completely worn and there is mildew/mold around the edges due to age-old tile. However, these were problems we could live with and accept knowing that down the road it would all be fixed. But then Joshua had to go under the house and install phone lines and that’s when he saw the whole floor of the bathroom… sinking. And now with the faucet itself acting up who knows what underlying problems we have.

My grandparents don’t want to fix anything. Mormor is so convinced the tiles are beautiful she will not let anyone touch them. She won’t trust us or a professional opinion. So I called my dad because he seems to be the only person in my family with some type of influence over Mormor. He got ahold of his friend who happens to live in our area and is a property manager in order to get reference for a professional building inspector. This way we can get an official document stating everything that needs to be done. I only hope Mormor and Morfar will be willing to make the necessary repairs or this time next year we’ll be moving back home…

Oh man, I know how annoying broken taps are! The one in my shower broke off a month or so ago and it made it SO hard to get the water the right temperature!
I hope your father’s friend can help you find a helpful building inspector to convince your grandparents to let you do repairs!

So I know you recently moved into a house…but is it owned by your grandparents and you are just paying rent or what? I am totally confused LOL. It does sound like a nice New Years though. I hope you got time and a half for working on a holiday. I had to work too and I got paid more so I am happy :) Hehehe. I do hope everything gets fixed soon!!

Blah, good luck with your bathroom…that stuff does not sound fun at all! Hopefully your grandparents will come around and help you out. :)

Ooooh, retail fun times. Had a lot of that back in Kohl’s over the holidays. Stupid people…you gotta wonder how they make their ways in the world being so high maintenance and selfish like that. At least your boss was cool about it! :D

LOL, not lame in any way, my dear! Hehe, I missed them on that show, I’ll have to search around and find a clip! I would so be crying heavy tears of nostalgia myself! XD
