My first week of school went pretty well. I think the really nice part is that I don’t have to worry about going to work during the day. I like all my classes, even my repeated math class mainly because I am having to force myself to pay attention due to the fact I can barely hear my little Russian teacher. The big thing that has been an ultra plus is I am making so much use of my iPod this semester. I bought a nifty recording device that allows me to record my lectures; it comes in real handy for my French class. Also in my French class we have to do labs in which we listen to CDs so all I have to do is burn the CDs onto iTunes and voila! Elphie en française! I’m really happy everything is becoming iPod friendly because it definitely justifies spending $300+ on an iPod.
My Math Anxiety class is so nice because it lets me know I am not the only who has math troubles. This class is kind of like therapy for math. So far we’ve examined where we think our anxiety started from. Next we’re working on associating feelings with different situations realating to math. For some people, seeing the word “math” is enough to cause anxiety. Everyone has a different situation, but on some level I relate to them all. My anxiety started in 8th grade when my fellow peers who’d tease me outside of class took pleasure in making me feel stupid every time I tried to understand something in the classroom. Then in high school teachers would make me feel stupid for asking questions as well. It’s nice to know now that I am not stupid I’ve just developed a math anxiety.
I love my weight training class. At first I was a little nervous since the picture in my mind was the whole football team lifting weights while I’m off in the corner with two 5lbs. dumbbells. My class actually has more women than men in it (including a Matt clone, gaahh can’t get away), and lots of aerobic machines. Our warm-up consists of doing God knows how many crunches, which makes me happy I am working my abs. Then I run off to play on the machines for 30 minutes. I was on an elliptical trainer and man did I get a work-out! I’m hoping that by doing that for 30 minutes twice a week and in combination of my SlimFast diet I’ll be able to lose some weight again.
Yesterday my man turned the big 2-1. My birthday present to him was the new Blackberry Curve + accessories (i.e. bluetooth headest, car charger, protective clip). Prior to his new phone he had an old Nokia that seriously wouldn’t die already. Him being the procrastinator he is I finally was like, “You’re never gonna get a new phone so Happy Birthday!” I can’t see myself ever maxing out a Blackberry’s potential, but Joshua has already. Considering that he does more than just work on cars the GPS and constant Internet come in very handy. All I have to say is I better get a Coach purse for my birthday next week!
