I need to have better timing on commenting on your entries so my advice will actually APPLY to you. XD

$25 an hour is a nice chunk o' money...but what the others suggested does ring true. Looks better on a resume, experience, career, etc. Since they've all mentioned the best reasons, I will just give my nod. :)

Well, the thing I learned about applying online (or at all -- online is just 21st century savvy) is that rarely, if you apply online, does a job contact you: employers want to see you come back in again and again to show them that you WANT the job, not that you'll just take whatever. So I was getting very frustrated when I applied online to tons of places and didn't hear anything back -- it wasn't until I called back Hollywood Video that I found out that (a) calling after applying is a good sign that you're eager to work for them and (b) half the time, employers don't even pull their online apps until an applicant or a higher-up prompts them to. With the case of BE, you turning in your resume most likely proved that you were eager to work for them, as well as prompting them to check online for your app. 2 weeks later, voila, job interview!

As for the decision between grandma's and BE...I would personally choose BE. I mean, for one thing, it DOES look better on a future resume and is a possible gateway job into a career (I think you mentioned something like that for a career?). But, if your grandmother does need the help, then I would go to the interview, really shine, and then ask if there is any way that you could start after a certain period later on...or if they could consider you in a few months (but that means you have to REALLY shine during the interview to make them want to call you back in a few months instead of just hiring someone else). So, that's my take.

Hope it helped!

I probably wouldn't cancel either. I mean, the interview might go really well and you might get really excited about it and find out that it would be a really good place to work. If the interview goes well, and then end up calling you and offering you the job, you could always turn it down like Holly said. It's something to think about anyway. :)

Man, I'm not sure how I'd handle this, but I probably wouldn't cancel the interview. Even if they have given you the run around with your application, I'd still go to it anyway, see how much you're likely to be paid, and then weigh up which you'd rather do.
If you do end up turning down the BE job, I'm sure they'd accept it, if you thanked them for their time, but were honest and said you'd also been offered another job which is more suitable and appealing. :)

Ah, that is a bit of a hard situation. I would definitely go with my Grandma if it was me. I mean, are you gonna get paid that much at the BE place? Plus, at your Grandma's house, it will be way more flexible, and you will be doing all sorts of different things. Who knows, she might even make you lunch or bake you cookies or something because you are working so hard. I mean it's great that you have an interview at BE, but they made you wait too long in my opinion. They can't expect you to hang around waiting for them to make up their mind. You have a life and you need to make money!
