Smoke and Gas
Written on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008 @ 3:05pm

Want to know how lame people are in my area? People seriously have way too much time down here I swear. SO, on my way up to my hometown on Thursday my dad calls me up and asks, “Is your car blowing smoke?” I check my rear-view mirror and reply, “Uh… no I don’t think so. I don’t see anything coming out the back. Why?” He proceeds to tell me he received a letter in the mail informing him my car was reported on June 4th, 2008 around 10:44am to have smoke coming out of it. He tells me he’ll check my car when I get there, but I should probably call Joshua about it.

I called Joshua and basically someone is screwing with me. In other words, they called my car in just because I did something to annoy them or whatever. Now, last I checked, when you piss someone off on the road they just honk and give you the finger. But oh ho ho not in Marin County! All the fighting is sneaky and instead we tattle on you to the California Air Resources Board! I don’t know which is more lame: the fact someone called my car in anonymously or the fact whoever did it is has the hotline number memorized for that use.

When I got to my parents house we filled out the little survey form that came with the letter saying NO my car was not smoking and hasn’t since then. My dad wanted to write in the comment box, “My car is only 7 years old and we don’t let it smoke.”

This morning during math class there was some commotion going on outside our classroom. We heard someone saying something about people needing to leave the building. My teacher paused to listen and then asked us, “Do you smell gas?” No sooner did he ask when a fire chief came into the classroom telling us we needed to evacuate because the construction workers accidentally hit a gas tank causing a gas leak. He told us we were welcomed to resume class in the student services building :hah: but my teacher told us we could go home!

It was a nice treat to end the day with, I’m just concerned about being able to cover enough material in preparation for Thursday’s final. We shall see!
