This past weekend was absolutely crazy! Both Saturday and Sunday we had our yard/garage sale. While we still have a bit of stuff left, we did make quite a dent in things. We had several big furniture pieces which included this big oak roll-top desk, a floral print sofa, our old IKEA bed, our IKEA LACK TV table, and this huge oak mirror/drawer for the entryway that we managed to get sold.
We still have some coffee tables, an old radio cabinet console, a stand-up freezer, a rocking chair, and a few other things that need to be sold, but the rest we’re going to have Salvation Army pick up some time this week. I’m hoping within the next week or two we can finally move the rest of our stuff up and be done with Marin once and for all!
This week is going to continue to be busy since I have to get the guest bathroom painted, work on other things around the house, go to orientation at Sac State on Wednesday, work on my web projects, and possibly go to the county fair. I’m not sure if I will be going to the bay for Father’s Day like I normally do since my grandma is not feeling well at all. We shall see!

You know, Cena. The stand up freezer, if it works, could be used to hold the spill over from your inside freezer. You could buy bigger amounts of meat & such that way & sometimes get a cheaper price. If you didn’t want to do that or if it didn’t work then use the freezer as a storage cabinet for Joshua’s tools, the animal supplies, or other miscellaneous items that could stay in the garage. That is what my father does with our old fridge & freezer except he uses our two for his wood supplies. Plus if you have any furry vermin they won’t be able to get into the freezer. Just an idea. You might also think about keeping the rocker chair in one of the guest bedrooms & putting a cushion & a afghan on it. It is usually a charming addition to a room, unless it is broken or you just can’t stand it. You could always paint it. One of the coffee tables if it is narrow enough could be used a hall table for when you come in the door. Put some baskets on it or underneath it. Heck, get a cushion for it & use it like a bench for people to take their shoes off there. You would be surprised at how little you will need to vacuum if you insist that shoes be removed at the door & only walk on your carpets with socks. That is what I do in my house. No one gets in my house with shoes on. I offer slip on slippers, but they take their shoes off. I have vacuuming & avoid it at all costs.
These are just suggestions, Cena.
Well Hev I’d keep the freezer if I already didn’t have one.
My parents got us a nice one for Christmas two years ago which is bigger and much more energy efficient than the one my grandmother has.
The rocking chair is not our style (a lot of the furniture she has is either oak or maple) plus we don’t have room for it as I’ve acquired these nice Chinese chairs awhile back from my other grandma; one of these is already in the guest room and the other in our bedroom. Plus, my mom is saving her rocking chair for me (when I have babies, hehe) and it’s bigger and sturdier than the one my grandma has.
I appreciate the suggestions, the bottom line is they’re not our style and if my uncle/dad can make some money off it I’d rather them go to someone who really wants them.
Ahh, I agree. I didn’t realize. Sorry.
It’s all good Hev!
I wish I was nearer to an Ikea, that place has awesome furniture.
From what I understand apparently IKEAs overseas have higher quality furniture than in the States. But yeah, their furniture is awesome!
Interesting, i’ll have to keep that in mind next time we’re overseas. Is everything still made with chipboard?
Congrats on making a dent on your inventory. Yard sales can be hard sometimes..or maybe that’s just in my living area?
