The last few days I’ve been trying to get as much done as I possibly can before our big vacation, which officially commences tomorrow. Every year Joshua’s family does a family vacation somewhere (last year it was Manchester Beach), and this year we’re going to Convict Lake. While we’re leaving tomorrow, Joshua and I are heading up to his parents house to spend the night so we can pack everything up and then just leave tomorrow.

Meanwhile, my mom and mainly my sis are going to be housesitting the entire time making sure my kitties are taken care of, so no worries about blaming social networking for anything happening to the house.

I realize I never wrote about my 4th of July weekend. It was a rather busy weekend especially since Joshua’s brother Bobby came up for a visit, so the majority of the time we were hanging out with him and his girlfriend Amber. Joshua had Friday the 3rd off so we were able to relax most of the day, and then we FINALLY saw Terminator: Salvation later in the evening. Saturday the 4th the four of us hung out at Joshua’s grandparents’ house for a barbecue. About 9pm we met up with my sis at the county fairgrounds to watch what turned out to be a rather weak fireworks show. What can I say? I’m spoiled with Disneyland’s fireworks. ;P

Monday and yesterday I was busy working on the dining room.

Dining Room

There’s still plenty that needs to be done, such as putting trim back up around the door to the garage – we had to remove it when we took the paneling off because the paneling was underneath it. I’d also like to get some actual dining chairs and possibly a bench.

Dining Room

One of my biggest annoyances about this room is the fact that the spot for ceiling lighting is not in the center of the room. So even though the dining room table is in the center of the room, the light is not. I have to fight with either having table being off so the light is under the table or having the table centered (like you can see above) and the light being off. I can’t decide. :(

I also didn’t anticipate having my EKTORP sofa in there; originally it was going to go on the back patio, but I don’t want it to get bug infested. I’m seriously thinking about selling it because I really don’t have any need for it now that I’ve inherited the super comfy sofa and matching loveseat from my Nana. I don’t know yet.

Dining Room

I’m satisfied with how this side of the room turned out, although it’d be nice to have a clean patio to look at, haha. At Christmas time I’m going to put my Christmas tree in that corner where that other fake tree currently resides. Joshua and my mom think the doors to the patio could use curtains of some sort, but I personally like how it is. The trim around the door is thicker and a bit more decorative than the rest of the trim, so I think it’s a nice accent.

Well, I have a lot to get done today before I leave. I’m coming back Tuesday the 14th, so I’m not sure whether or not you’ll hear from me between now and then. I’m hoping I at least get cell signal so I can try to keep up with Twitter and posting pics to Flickr. If not, you’ll just have to wait till I return! ;-)

If the couch doesn’t sink to far down & the people are still level with the table then why don’t you use it for one of the sides of the table. I seen a pic of it done that way. It was quite interesting. I’ll have to see if I can find the magazine again. I know it was either All You, Woman’s World or First. But it depends on how far you sink into the couch. I like your dinning room. Very light & breezy.
