The Friday Five ~
1. How often do you clean your home?
On a daily basis. Sometimes its what I spend the whole day doing, other times it’s here and there. Anytime I am tempted to be lazy I hear my parents voice in my head telling me to, “Pick that up!” HAHA!
2. What domestic chore do you hate?
Hand-washing dishes. Did it for two and a half years while living in Marin. Never again!
3. What domestic chore do you enjoy?
Laundry! I’m a laundry Nazi! I like having control over how my clothes turn out.
4. Do you own a washing machine or go to the laundrette?
I inherited my Nana’s washing machine. I think I’m gonna need a new dryer in the near future though.
5. Do you iron underpants and/or bed sheets?
Oh heck no! I wash/dry my organic cotton sheets and they go right back on the bed.

I can safely say that at this point we’re 98% finished with the house. It is quite a relief to be saying that because with our previous duplex it never felt like we were finished; we just got discouraged and gave up. The remaining 2% includes putting up base-boarding and trim in the kitchen and dining room, wall decorations being put up, another bookshelf or two, and a coffee table. This busy-ness explains my rare appearances on the internet.
For the past week I have been busy wrapping up the kitchen. It started with wallpaper and panel removal (and an argument w/parentals
), then sanding and spackling, then spraying on texture (because someone thought it would be awesome to put up smooth drywall just for the wallpaper!), then priming, and then painting! It was probably the one room that took the most work which is why it was left last.
Today I am taking a break from my house to go visit some family up in Tahoe. It’ll be nice because the last time I saw these relatives was unfortunately right when things went from bad to worst with my Nana last year. I’m riding up with my parents and sis so hopefully it shouldn’t be too bad, haha. I just remember the last time we went up to visit as a family I got carsick from the windy roads.
Anyway, once things get taken care of around the house this weekend I plan on taking a ton more pics and dedicating a blog entry to each room talking about what we’ve done. Then my next task? Plan a housewarming party!

Your house is coming on so nicely. I enjoy looking through the pictures.
Your kitchen looks great! And you’ve done a great job with the guest room too. Me and my boyfriend both said that we’d be happy to stay in that room. Its gorgeous! Haha, I’ll be on my way over now then, yeah? =P
I put your site in my RSS feed too. I always felt bad that I only ever commented on your site when I updated mine. But this way, I can actually see when you update and I can tootle over and comment. =]
I am sorting a site out again, but in the meantime, you can find me on twitter. I’ve “@-ed” you a few times, but I’m not sure if you knew it was me or not! =P

Hmm, I wonder how many people DO iron their sheets and underwear. I don’t think I know of anyone who does.
