The Couple

Us

Joshua and I met on September 20th, 2004. I was two weeks in to my job at McDonald’s when Joshua began working there; he worked there several months prior, quit, then worked again because he got himself a car. The night we met was his first night back. I was working register and didn’t really pay too much attention to him as he stood on the side talking to the other associates. When my line was clear, he came to order food and immediately began flirting with me. I enjoyed the attention and while I did think he was cute, I did not have the same attraction he had for me.

For the next two months, I had a difficult time figuring out whether I really was beginning to have feelings for Joshua or I was enjoying the attention. At one point I pushed him away only to realize I really did like him. After a long conversation on the phone, we slowly began down the path of getting to know each other. A week before our relationship became official, I got to meet his family and he got to meet mine. November 6th, 2004 was our first date in which we went to see my high school’s production of, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” During intermission we wandered around outside and at 8:52pm (we happen to be near the clock) he asked me to be his girlfriend. After the show while waiting for his car to warm up we shared our first kiss.

After we both graduated high school, Joshua began his schooling to be an automotive technician at UTI (Universal Technical Institute) while I took general education classes at the local junior college. Him working in the mornings and going to school through the evening was tough for our relationship but it made the weekends enjoyable. This routine continued for a year until he graduated with honors and moved to Ranch Cucamonga to partake in his Mercedes-Benz training for the next four months. This was the ultimate test for our relationship. In February 2007 Joshua graduated from the training program and got hired at the Mercedes-Benz dealership in San Rafael.

February 24th, 2007 Joshua and I moved into part of a duplex owned by my grandparents located in Marin County. Joshua spends his days working at Mercedes-Benz while I go to school, work part time at Old Navy, and take care of the house with our two cats.

We definitely plan on getting married one day. It’s all a matter of it being the right time. God has blessed our relationship so far and continues to lead us in the right direction every day. I’ve written this article in hopes of clearing up any misconceptions in regards to the more personal side of my relationship with Joshua.
