Hoo boy, lots to update on! To start with, July 3rd through July 10th I went on vacation with Joshua’s family up in Oregon. We camped at a KOA in a little town called Langlois, located between Port Orford and Bandon. As usual, I took a lot of pictures. :duh:

Here’s a little video I made featuring the highlights of the trip…

Oregon Trip 2010 from Cristina on Vimeo. My very first movie I put together via iMovie. It’s a combo of all the movie clips I took on my iPhone 4 during our vacation in Oregon. It’s set to Coldplay’s “Life in Technicolor” and yes I know next time shoot in landscape not portrait.

We spent most of our time exploring the beaches nearby and just relaxing. Thursday the whole family got to spend two hours ATVing on the Oregon Sand Dunes, which I absolutely loved! The only part of the vacation that sucked (other than having to hike to the bathroom in the middle of the night) was coming home. We went from 60ºF weather to 100ºF weather. x(

The other thing that sucked about coming home was shortly after we made our stop for dinner, I began to have a sore throat, chills, and extreme fatigue. By Monday I was so sick I barely made it through my first class and had to go home before my second class. That morning Joshua checked my throat, and it looked like I had acne all over my throat; not to mention swallowing was SUPER painful. A doctor’s appointment on Tuesday confirmed what I already knew: I had strep throat. Within 24hrs of being on antibiotics (ones that didn’t make me sick, hah) I was feeling just like new!

Before we left for vacation I was looking in the Gold Panner and saw some Aussie Shepherd puppies for sale. Part of the reason Joshua and I don’t have a dog is because we couldn’t agree on one: I wanted a Dachshund and he wanted an Aussie Shepherd. Lately I’ve started to realize how nice it would be to have a big dog so I can go for walks and have a guard dog. I decided to compromise. Well we didn’t want to get anything before vacation, so we looked after we came back. The Aussie pups were gone, but I found Border Collie pups on Craigslist.

Tucker

His name is Tucker and he’s 3 months old. He’s really shy, mainly because he went from being on a cattle ranch with 10 other dogs to a small home with two cats. He’s adapting very well, getting a little livelier each day. He starts Puppy Education training at PetSmart next Saturday. As for the cats, it’s been great that Tucker is very shy and not in their faces; it’s allowing the cats to get used to him, and if anything I think Tucker is a bit more scared of the cats than they are of him.

Well, that’s it for now! I have a bachelorette party to throw and a wedding to be a part of this weekend, so needless to say I have a lot to do. Add school to the mix and it’s crazy!

The Friday Five ~
1. What do you love about summer?
I love the long days, breaking out the cooler clothes, spending more time with family and friends, less obligations, more fun, and more time for going places.

2. How many times have you had a fun summer?
The only time I didn’t have a fun summer was the summer before my senior year of high school. Other than that I pretty much always do something fun!

3. What mostly do you like to do during summertime?
Relax and catch up on things I haven’t been able to do during the school year. Also go on family vacations!

4. Do you like the place where you live?
Yes and no. I love the house itself, but the area gets way too hot in the summer, I’m still considered “too far away” for some people to visit, certain family members do not want to visit me at all because the house belonged to my deceased grandma, and I can’t go to the Wal-Mart and Safeway by my house without someone asking me for spare change. Plus the neighborhood I live in is not at all safe anymore like it used to be, so when we plan to start a family we’re moving. We’re actually talking about moving out of state, but this won’t happen for another couple of years.

5. If you were given the chance, would you want to live in a tropical country?
Nah, I think it would just encourage me to be lazy, hah. Besides it’s nice to get away to a tropical country because you appreciate it more when you’re visiting instead of living.

Can I just say how lame I think it is that the people over at the FF refuse to correct the grammar/spelling in the questions they use?! Then they encourage you to copy/paste as is therefore spreading the bad grammar/spelling across the interwebz. Stop the madness! :grr:

Last night I arrived home after being on the road for a full 24 hours! Wednesday night Joshua, Amber, and I left around 9:45pm to go down to San Diego.

Camp Pendleton

We arrived around 7am, got Bobby 30 minutes later, and then headed over to the nearest Denny’s for a hearty breakfast. Then the rest of the day was spent getting home. Between traffic and all the bathroom/snack breaks, we got home a little after 9pm. Joshua was such a trooper considering he only slept for 3 hours Wednesday and spent all day driving.

Today I am trying to get as much stuff done around the house as I can in preparation for the family vacation! So excited!

FINALLY, my wedding web site is 100% finished! Behold JoshandCristina.com!

My Wedding Web Site

After working on this for months, plus trying to get other wedding stuff done, I finally have the site completed. I wanted to make sure it was done before I sent my Save-the-Date cards out since they include information about the web site. Now, the only thing I am waiting for is my Disney Honeymoon giftcard which will allow me to activate our Disney Honeymoon Registry so people can contribute to the honeymoon.

I have one more week left before I go back to school. My 3 weeks of summer vacation have been pretty much all dedicated to wedding stuff, both my wedding and my future sibling in-laws; they’re getting married on July 18th, so we’ve had a lot to do. Last week we went shopping for bridesmaid dresses, and I ended up finding my wedding dress. Monday night we all went over to my in-laws house to put together their wedding favors. It has been crazy!

Then tonight Joshua, Amber, and I are heading down to San Diego to pick up Bobby; he fractured his ankle playing ultimate frisbee  and since his car is a stick there is no way he can drive all the way up here. We’re heading down to pick him up and tow up his car (it’s crapping out) all within tonight and tomorrow. It’s going to be a LONG trip!

Speaking of long trips, this Saturday we’re leaving for the family vacation in Bandon, Oregon. I’m having several people look after the house while we’re gone, so I know my kitties will be taken good care of. I’m looking forward to taking a break from everything and enjoying my last week of summer vacation in the great outdoors!
